I am continuing my studies in nutrition and right now I am studying Autoimmune Diseases. I’m learning quite a bit and I wanted to share with you some of what I have learned so far. First let me define what is an autoimmune disease. Autoimmune diseases are a type of disorder in which the body forms excessive antibodies to, attacks and destroys its own tissues. There are many triggers: a leaky gut, vaccinations, an imbalance in the good and bad bacteria in the gut and a low grade chronic infection.
There are 155 named autoimmune conditions in the US and 1 in 6 people have an autoimmune disease and most do not know they have it. Here are some conditions that are known to be autoimmune diseases: Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Type 1 Diabetes, Celiac Disease and Lupus.
